My students need technology in the classroom. The larger iPads will allow them to make movies based on books they've read. We will be able to practice editing with the programs that these iPads support.

My Students

I teach at a Chicago Public School where there are over eight hundred students. My class is one of four, third grade classes in the building. This year, I have a group of twenty-six diverse learners.

This is a creative classroom that uses song, dance, visual art and theater as vehicles for learning.

Our learning space is small but dynamic.

However, our classroom technology needs updating. Please help our learning center grow. My students are excited to modernize our room. Thank You.

My Project

Currently this classroom has 2 older iPad minis. The students share them on a rotating schedule. We are not able to download the new programs we would like to use (there is not enough memory). Adding newer and larger iPads will directly support our reading curriculum. I hope to pioneer a movie making component. We would study an author (Judith Viorst) and then recreate her picture books, as movies.

Adding more technology allows more students to be the movie makers, the actors, the designers and the script writers.

If I show them, they see. If they do it themselves, they remember.
