My students need 2 additional iPad minis to become more technology literate, and maintain their love of learning and exploring, through an engaging and personalized experience, while adding a spin on the traditional book report.
They are a curious bunch, which leads to interesting and engaging conversations. My students crave more information, which is why I started this project, I wanted to quench their thirst for knowledge and provide new ways to learn. The location of our school provides students with the opportunity to discover the world around them. With a well-rounded, place-based curriculum, students become stewards of their environment and community. At the heart of our school, you will find amazing families, who dedicate time and resources to help our students and school succeed. This is not just a school, it is a community. Families, volunteers and staff work very hard to provide the best for our students. However, funding sometimes limits the resources needed to help our students excel.
My Project
Research indicates Integrating technology into the classroom, along with other teaching strategies, has many benefits. Technology in the classroom also creates an interactive and engaging learning experience for all students. One project, that is sure to capture the attention of my students, is creating their own iMovie! Yes, that is right, they will will get to create their own iMovie based off of a book, which they will read in small groups. This a wonderful way to get students engaged in novel studies, share diverse perspectives and boost confidence. Another way I envision Integrating technology into our classroom is during math and reading centers. Including iPad minis as a station, during center time, offers students a fun, individualized learning experience, and reinforces the concepts and skills learned in class. Kids love technology! This is a great opportunity to use what they enjoy, combine it with learning and enable students to learn at their own pace and create challenges!
