This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first year teacher in a Title I, inner-city school with a high poverty level. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds, with most of them receiving free lunch. My students are faced with many different challenges and struggles, both at home and at school.
My students come to school each day ready to be challenged and try new things.
As a first year teacher, I am lacking in many of the items that most classrooms have, and want to make sure that my students are given every chance they have to be successful.
My Project
In a world where technology is everywhere, it should also be readily available in classrooms. Technology is a key factor in promoting an engaging education. iPads will give my students a way to learn on an individual level, while being deeply engaged in technology. iPads can be used across all subjects and help to build on the skills that students already have.
iPads will give my students the tools they need to become even more successful in their learning while incorporating technology.
When students are engaged in technology, they often forget that they are learning. iPads are "fun" and I would love to combine the fun with their learning. A set of iPads will allow for my students to be engaged in technology in small groups and also individually.
