Help me give my students a tabletop light panel along with light table manipulatives to spark their curiosity and imagination. This hands on light table will engage my young learners and allow them another way to learn.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Transitional Kindergartners and at my school come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Some have two parent households, but there are many who come from a single parent household or are in Foster Care. We are designated as a Title 1 school which means that a high percentage of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch based on household income. Our school is also located along the Mexico border which means many of our students enter the public schooling system speaking only Spanish.
Even with all of the diversity at my school, the kids at my grade level in particular are resilient and excited about their educational experiences.
The TK kids love to come to school to participate in hands on activities, foster new friendships and build solid academic as well as social/emotional skills that will help shape their young lives.
My Project
This tabletop light board along with the math/language arts manipulatives will spark curiosity in my young learners and will allow them hands on access to learn new skills in the academic areas of math and language arts.
My young learners have not had the experience of working with a light board and will be ecstatic to "play" with something new that lights up.
By "playing" with this light board, my young learners will be using their fine motor skills to manipulate, letters, numbers, shapes and other items to learn foundational skills in the areas of math and language arts. This is a perfect way for my young learners to be exposed to hands on learning of core academics.
