This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I read this, you read that, but we ALL can read! I teach Special Education Resource Reading and Writing for Kindergarten through 5th grade. My classroom is in a Title 1 school in Texas. All of my students are struggling readers, and all are 'at-risk' and come from low socio economic backgrounds. However, this does not stop any of them from learning and wanting to improve their reading skills. Our classroom currently does not have a classroom library with different levels of reading books. Most of the books we have are what I check out from the library, bring from home, or purchase at a half price bookstore on my own.

The majority of my students do not have books in their home. Some of them are from homes where English is not spoken. I supply them with books to take home and read during the week. I do this to help promote reading in the home and more parental involvement.

My students need a classroom library of books that are on different reading levels. Even though I service Kindergarten through 5th grade, none of my students read on their grade level. Having these leveled books will give them the ability to read books on their level and then have the opportunity to read the higher level as they progress.
