My Students
J.K. Rowling says, "I do believe something magical can happen when you read a good book." I agree 100% and I have witnessed such magic in my classroom. To keep that magic and sense of wonder alive, I want to offer my students new books. For them very little compares to a new book!
My students are the same hard working darlings that I had last year as second graders. This year, as third graders, they have a high stakes reading test to determine their promotion to fourth grade. It is important to keep them reading for the test and beyond!
My Project
We have Sustained Silent Reading for an hour each day. During such time, students are engaged in individual or group literacy activities. These activities include: Reader of the Day, student conferences, partner reading, reading games and book-talks.
The books you provide will enhance these events and efforts! This is especially true for book-talks. The kids love sharing their favorite books with each other and graphic novels have hooked my reluctant readers!
Having had theses same students last year, our classroom library must be updated regularly to keep the students' interests and momentum high!
A batch of new books will be the just the spark needed.
