Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to my music class excited to learn and make music every day. They are incredibly motivated, creative and passionate about music and technology. Through creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration, we are developing their musical skills while discovering their musical talents.
I strive to give my students every tool needed to help them to discover their love and passion for music, not only through using instruments but also through using technology to create their own music.
My Project
We are requesting 13 more soprano ukuleles which my students will use to learn to play simple to more complex pieces on these amazing instruments, using proper fingering technique. The students will continue to learn music theory and to read a chord diagram through the music they play on their new ukuleles. My hope is that my students discover their own talent and love for this beautiful, complex, universal language that we call "music".
Playing a musical instrument enhances coordination, teaches perseverance and improves reading and comprehension skills.
By learning how to play soprano ukuleles, my students will have the opportunity to experience the many benefits that playing a musical instrument offers. This experience can lead to students continuing on to other stringed instruments, such as the guitar.
