When students enter my class, it is often their very first school experience. They are boys and girls from very diverse backgrounds, with varying skills and abilities. Our classroom community welcomes all who enter to grow with us as we read, sing, dance, paint, share, eat, and learn.
Throughout the year we have many celebrations to recognize holidays, birthdays, and the wonderful accomplishments of our students.
My goal, as a teacher, is to expose all of my students to new and exciting materials and programs, regardless of their needs or backgrounds, in order to spark interest and creativity!
My Project
We are living in unprecedented times. We are in the unfortunate situation of a pandemic, causing schools world-wide to close their doors to students and teachers. However, closed buildings doesn't mean learning stops, because we are also in the most technology-rich age thus far. These two unique situations makes for the perfect marriage of education and technology. However, there is also the issue faced by so many teachers that we were not actually prepared for this happen.
Had I known I was going to set up a remote classroom in my home, I would have made sure to have gotten a web-connected computer so I could deliver the best possible instruction and emotional support to my students, from home.
I find myself daily having to scramble to post lessons, communicate with families and research best practices, all from my smartphone. I am requesting an HP desktop all-in-one computer so I can continue educating my students, right from my kitchen table, then when we return to school, have it right in the classroom for them to use.
