Help me give my students equal access to education during the school closures. My students are deaf and many do not have access to up to date technology at home to access their online classrooms and video chats.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in Chicago, IL. It houses our preschool through the 8th-grade deaf program. Our students come from various neighborhoods, as our program is a cluster program for the deaf on the southwest side of Chicago.
Our students are deaf and hard of hearing and they have severe language delays due to their hearing loss.
Reading and language are very difficult for them so they read years below grade level due to these delays. I teach 4th through 8th grade deaf students and they have learning challenges that other children do not face. In particular, remote learning has been a tremendous struggle for them because most of them do not have adequate technology to access the online curriculum.
My Project
Having Chromebooks would help my students tremendously, especially during remote learning. Many of them only have phones and trying to attend video classrooms, clearly seeing the sign language of teachers and peers and completing assignments is a huge obstacle for my students.
Up to date, accessible technology is crucial for my students' success, especially during remote learning.
Because they are deaf, it is simply not enough to "join" a classroom and listen to what is being discussed. They need to be able to see the teacher and see their classmates in order to understand what is being taught and discussed.
It would be wonderful to have a bank of Chromebooks that the students who do not have adequate technology can borrow. When school is in session, the students would continue to have access by having the Chromebooks available to them to utilize.
