My students need food that they can eat when they come to school hungry such as crackers, Pop Tarts and juice boxes. I can also send these home on weekends and holidays!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class is a special group of children. They are girls and boys who have many struggles or obstacles to get through each and every day to come to school and be successful. They live in the city that is consistently named "the most dangerous city," but my students fight to overcome that label every day by coming to school and succeeding.
These students are smart, funny and eager to learn.
They work hard to do their best in everything we do in class. So even though they might have struggles children should not have to deal with, my children succeed and are great learners, students, and children.
My Project
My students will get Pop Tarts, crackers, and a juice if they miss the free breakfast offered. They will also receive a bag of items to take home on the weekends and holidays. It is sad to think that a child comes to school hungry and struggles to do schoolwork on an empty stomach.
Can you imagine what it must be like not to know when you will eat again?
Every child should have the essentials they need, especially food. These students want to learn. They just need someone to understand that food is a basic need and no 7-year-old child should have to go hungry!
