This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our elementary school is a charming school located in Stockton, California that is full of creative, caring, and kind young scholars. Our beautiful school is made up of over 700+ students ranging from grades K-8th. Our school is a Title 1 school with over 80% of students coming from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Since COVID, we have noticed an increase in students' need to self-regulate during stressful/overwhelming situations.

Our goal is to create a calming space, accessible by all students, if they are in need of a quiet and peaceful area to self-regulate/self-nurture and be able to return to the classroom to focus on their school work. We will use this space to proactively prevent crisis situations and/or use the space to de-escalate a crisis and problem solve. We hope to promote wellness and provide education on how to calm emotions and triggers. We carefully selected posters, pillows, essential oils and other products that will calm sense of touch, sight, smell and sound. Thank you for considering our School!
