We are an elementary school in the only district in the state without a racial majority. Many students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I have a very diverse group of children from all ethnicities and backgrounds. We have many English language learners (ELL) and students with a variety of learning styles.
Our school has very limited materials.
I have a vast variety of all types of learners, ethnicities, and socioeconomic levels. My students love hands-on learning, getting moving, and reading engaging books! They benefit from being able to create, explore, and collaborate with others.
My Project
It is hard to imagine that it is time to start thinking about next school year, but as this year comes to an end, it is overwhelmingly obvious to me that we need supplies! Each year, the families in my district struggle to provide school supplies for their children. It is a burden on our low income families and many students are left without or without enough. There are never enough supplies to go around, and certainly not enough to last us the entire school year.
It is my hope, that with your help, the burden can be lessened for the parents and myself as we struggle to provide adequate supplies for the students.
Your donation will ensure that we have enough supplies for a happy and healthy school year. Items like pencils, glue, and paper seem simple enough, but you cannot imagine how difficult learning is without these supplies. There's nothing worse than planning the perfect lesson only to get ready to begin and hear the words, "I don't have a pencil!" These tools are necessary for productive students to grow into life long learners.
