My center is made up of children Kindergarten through 5th grade. I have children from all ages and different learning styles. The kids come in from a long day at school and for some of them this is like their second home. We try to provide an environment for the children that is safe and comforting. It can get difficult when the age as well as their interest are so dramatically different. My staff and I are always trying to provide a variety of materials to spark the children's curiosity as well as provide developmentally appropriate material. We try to provide an environment that strengthens relationships with their peers and also children of different ages.
My Project
I want to provide a wall where I have a question of the week to help get to know my students better. The permanent bulletin board will be labeled "I Mustache You a Question". Each week the children that would like to answer the question will write their answer down on a piece of paper. They will then get their picture taken with a Polaroid while wearing a fake mustache. This is a fun way to get my students engaged and gives them an opportunity to learn fun facts about their peers. It will also be displayed where the parents enter. This will be fun for the parents to watch the board change weekly.
