I need a lifetime membership to the Hawaii Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance to become the best P.E. teacher for my students!
This group is positively one of the most resilient group of kids I've worked with in all my years of being an educator. Living in rural parts on the island of O'ahu, my kids are able to live without the luxuries of working facilities, functioning equipment, and a sufficient amount of technology. At our Title I school, my kids are faced with financial challenges at a young age. They "make do" with what they are given and rarely do they complain about the condition of the facilities and/or equipment. My class has the potential to motivate and inspire students through exercise and physical fitness and is one of the few classes that promote movement throughout the entire period!
My Project
A mentor teacher once told me to go out and teach my students how to become lifelong participants of physical activity...and if I had to, tell them how. I need to be the example of what it means to be active and have a love for physical fitness and health. Through the lifetime membership with our Hawaii Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance I take that next step to being informed and aware of new trends in our field of physical education. I will be able to stay abreast of what is going on throughout the state and nation, still well-informed of how to effectively teach our younger generation, and to hone my craft to better serve my students.
I want to be the best example for my students and show them that learning is a lifelong process.
With the lifetime membership, I will have access to P.E. conferences, online resources, networking with P.E. teachers throughout the state, and much more!
