My students are sweet, hard-working, inquisitive individuals who are always enthusiastic about learning. They enjoy learning through different formats such as technology, various types of media (newspapers, textbooks, online resources, magazines, etc.), hands-on experiences, through discovery, and many other ways. My students attend a Title I school and although our school provides the necessary resources for learning, the little extras are always a little more difficult to come by. For many of my students, English is a second language. Providing formats such as pictures for learning helps them to retain information. and make learning fun.
At Baldwin Elementary School our mission states "Motivate and Engage All Students to Achieve Academic Excellence." This should be the mission of all educators around the world.
In order to motivate and engage students teachers have to find ways in the classroom to do this for all different types of learners. Students want to learn through conversations and apply real-world concepts in order to make learning relevant and interesting. Through this project, I am hoping to obtain the materials to do this.
Time For Kids magazines include articles which students will find interesting and enjoyable to read. This magazine incorporates lessons which span across all subject areas. Students can improve their comprehension skills and at the same time, the other subject areas of writing, science, and math can be implemented while making learning fun.
Students will have access to colorful pictures which may promote classroom discussions.
Time For Kids is a great resource that students and teachers enjoy as a tool for learning. At Baldwin Elementary literacy resources are limited so Time For Kids will be a great addition to our library of resources.
