My students need a variety of books at different levels to learn to read. I am requesting eight book titles with six copies of each book to use for small group reading instruction.
“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” This quote, by Benjamin Franklin, describes the classroom environment that I create for my energetic and enthusiastic students. Kindergarten is a busy place with active hands-on learning and happy smiles from students who love to learn and have fun!
My students are engaged and successful learners.
I create a positive environment where every child feels loved, valued, and important every day! I work diligently to meet the social and academic needs of every student. My students love to be greeted every morning as they come into class. They see my smile, hear my laugh, and watch my ever-moving Converse sneakers, as I move around the room to start another day of joyful learning.
My Project
Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school with a wide range of knowledge in reading. Some students enter kindergarten without any preschool experience while others have attended preschool for multiple years. Some students know all of the letters of the alphabet while others know none. Some students know how to read. Other students cannot read their name. I strive to work with every child every day at their level. Having a wide range of quality literature for the beginning reader and the advanced reader requires a tremendous amount of materials to ensure success for every child.
My students will use the books I have selected to meet with me and their small group in guided reading instruction.
I currently have twenty-five students and six groups. Each group reads a different book every day of school. The students' abilities range from a level A to a level M. Having multiple book sets from a variety of levels will enable me to have a book for every student to read for all 180 days of school. Daily instruction and practice in reading will create successful and confident readers that will excel in school and in life.
