This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are mostly from low-income families that live in a gang-infested, poverty-stricken environment. They face many challenges on a daily basis. My students struggle with feeling safe, whether they are sitting on the front porch or walking to school.
My job is to make them feel safe at school as well as to give them hope that they can overcome any situation.
Every day, I encourage my students to be a catalyst for change in their school, home, and their environment. My students know that they can overcome anything if they try.
My Project
My students use the Amplify Science curriculum on a daily basis during science class. One of the most interactive parts of this curriculum is the hands on interactive computer based simulations.
Having additional Chromebooks in the classroom will give more students the opportunity to work on computer based simulations without watching their peers navigate the activity because there are not enough chrome books for the entire class.
These Chromebooks will allow each student the opportunity to think for themselves as they navigate the simulation activities with a partner or on their own. One result of students working with a partner on the chrome books instead of with groups will allow more students to think on their own.
