This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year I have a great class. My classroom has a diverse group of students that comes from different races and socioeconomic groups. They are a very loving and special group of kids that match my level of enthusiasm and excitement for learning every day.
My class is the best class that any teacher could ask for.
They are eager learners and love having the opportunity to peer teach or to show what they have learned. Even though we have our ups and downs, we always work it out. This has been my best class ever.
My Project
This year I have been blessed with students that love reading and love to be read to. They become very invested in the books that I read to them and love sharing and making connections from one text to another and from the text to things that have happened in their own lives.
I am amazed at the thoughtfulness of their answers to questions and the connections that they make.
This is awesome considering their ages and that they are only in second grade, but this has left me with a wonderful problem. The sort of problem that is more of a blessing than a curse. I don't have enough copies of various titles that now interest them, which are books that are above their grade level which contain more difficult text.
I would like to have these leveled readers book set so I can teach them more difficult skills so they can continue to grow as readers, fully understand the books they are reading and have the skills necessary to truly enjoy the books that they are reading.
