My Students

Once I tell people I love math, all I get in response is someone telling me how much they hate it. If only they had necessary foundational skills, then maybe they wouldn't have those opinions. It's my goal to instill a love and understanding of math with my kiddos by focusing on number sense.

I've got 16 great kiddos from all walks of life.

Our school has a unique mixture of low and high income, socio economic status, and diversity. This balance creates a wonderful environment in which I strive to instill a love of learning in those great kids.

My Project

I would love to have a math station in my room where students could freely take supplies and explore math on their own as they finish other activities. I envision math stories, rekenreks, playdough, number lines, counting pieces, dice, and so much more that they can use to learn through play and exploration.

These supplies will help my students gain that foundational number sense that will then help them succeed throughout their education and in life.

Math should not be such a polarizing subject, it doesn't need to be hated. Let's instill a love of numbers.
