Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students are from low-income families, mainly African American and Latinos. We are a Title I and 100% free lunch school. I teach in a Spanish Immersion program in Indianapolis where the students learn using the Spanish language. My school is a Title I school in Indianapolis, Indiana.
My students are exceptional because from a young age they get the opportunity to learn a second language (Spanish) and benefit from a dual immersion language education that helps them to gain better brain capacities.
My students encourage each other to be the best they can be and to create a loving community throughout the classroom. Being a kindergarten teacher is very rewarding, I have the pleasure to introduce them to school.
My Project
It is essential for children to be exposed to a variety of physical challenges when they are young. It helps to develop body awareness, strength, and confidence.
Using scooter games and activities in our indoor recess time gives students an opportunity to engage in beneficial play and can be used for fitness activities, games and pure enjoyment.
With many scooter games, the focus can be on teamwork, sportsmanship, and activities that isolate specific muscle groups to increase the strength of each child.
My students only have PE one time a week, and I want to give them a chance to experience what their body can do as much as possible. I also have to provide a safe environment. This equipment would help students challenge themselves and ensure safety at the same time.
