These students are among the most diverse in the nation. They live in one of the highest crime areas and in some of the highest poverty levels with 78% of students getting free and reduced lunch rate in an urban district. These children are eager to learn and be 21st-century ready leaders.
These students would benefit from iPads to assist students in STEM activities and Reading.
As our district currently does not have current reading or science curriculum, students can use a variety of apps to assist them in filling learning gaps and challenging our Gifted and Talented students.
iPads in our classroom with durable cases would allow students to work on their personal learning goals using a variety of applications. The iPads will be used to help bridge the learning gap of students who are currently below level in Math and Reading. It will also enhance the learning of the Gifted and Talented students to expand their knowledge in Math and Science. My English Language Learners will benefit from learning new vocabulary. All students will use these iPads in a center in our room to learn concepts in Math, Science and Reading that we currently do not have curriculum to help them master core concepts and standards.
