Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are hard workers, ravenous readers, and are constantly striving to do their best at school and in their communities. I work at a middle school where our students are majority English Language Learners and a majority of them receive free/reduced lunches.

Our students are the most hardworking middle school kids that I know!

They have busy school days that end at 4:00 PM and are filled with core classes such as Math, Science, English Language Arts, Humanities, plus elective classes such as Art and PE, just to name a few. Many of our students are also involved in extracurricular activities on and off our school site.

My Project

My students read daily both at home and in school. My students span various reading levels and varying interests. We have students reading beyond their grade level, students who are struggling with reading fluency, and those who are at grade level. One thing they all have in common is that they are always searching for new and interesting books to read!

I love seeing my students get lost in a book!

Lately, the books in my classroom library have been checked out not only by my grade level students, but other students from other grades. This is great, but my library needs more books to replace those that are checked out or have already been read by many of my students. We would LOVE some new books!
