My Students

My students are a group of 22 vibrant second graders in an urban setting. They come to school every day full of energy, curiosity and a drive to succeed. My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Some of my students are second language learners and students with individualized education programs. My students range in ability levels but each one brings his or her own unique qualities & talents to form our wonderful classroom community. My students come to school every day ready to learn and consistently challenge themselves & each other.

My Project

My second graders are growing up in the digital age and as a result, are highly motivated to learn through the use of technology. Classroom iPads are wonderful tools for giving young children access to online resources with a touch-screen, which meets their current fine motor skills. By having additional iPads in my classroom, more students can obtain access to online books, literacy activities to promote their reading abilities, math games that build number fluency and opportunities to delve deeper into our project-based learning studies. In addition, iPads provide second language learners and students with disabilities varied means for success.
