My Students

I am privileged to enter my 13th year teaching kindergarten this year! I truly have a passion for teaching the young ones and consider it an honor to be the first teacher that many of my students ever have. I teach in a Title I school with at over 45% free and reduced lunch. There are a variety of students with different backgrounds and abilities as well. Some have never had any experience in a school setting before and others will enter kindergarten with 3 years of preschool experience.

I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to use my knowledge and experience teaching kindergartners this year.

There are several students who are special needs in my classroom as well as two who struggle emotionally. With a little love and sound teaching, I can't wait to see how much growth and progress these kindergartners make this year!

My Project

My students needs headphones to allow them to listen to quality literature each day. They also need book buddy bags to carry their books they read each day in small groups home. In kindergarten we lay the foundation for reading and if my students do not find the love for reading in kindergarten, I fear they may not find it at all. If they had headphones to allow them to listen to the amazing books that we have and bags to allow them to carry the books home to share, it would make a huge impact on their love for reading.
