I am the computer teacher at a Title I, public, charter school serving grades preschool through 8. Our school utilizes the Montessori approach in our inclusive general education classrooms.
We work to prepare an environment that promotes a child's natural ability to become a self-directed learner and creative problem solver.
My students love technology and embrace every opportunity they are given to learn and explore in the digital world. Many of them do not have access to technology at home beyond a smartphone, so the experiences they have here at school give them skills that will benefit them in this digital world that we are now living in.
Tablets aren't of any use if the battery dies after 5 minutes because someone forgot to plug them in. This 10-port USB charging station will allow for our Amazon Fire tablets and our iPad to be charged simultaneously and in a compact space.
A charging station will also help students learn responsibility, a life skill that is so very important.
If one person forgets to do their job, many other students will struggle because of their lack of responsibility.
This charging station will be utilized as a part of our brand-new STEM activities in our technology classroom, which will see students from 3 years old through 8th grade throughout the year.
