My Students
My class is a 1st grade ASD classroom. I am a first-year teacher and am starting out with nothing! ASD students truly benefit from sensory objects and different type of learning tools than general education students. I want to transform my classroom into a room that makes these students feel safe and ready to learn. I have big plans for these kiddos and can not wait to get started! Please help me help my kiddos learn and get ready for 2nd grade!
My Project
Sensory play is so important for fine motor skills and engagement within an autism classroom. In my classroom, we are very hands-on with our learning. For example, with this sand, we will use it for all subjects. We have used sensory sand in the past for a math review. My kids had to find the "buried treasure (numbers)" as we were all dressed up as pirates.
Help me give my kids a hands-on way of learning!
My kids will absolutely love all the different colors of sand and we can use it for different themes throughout the year.
