My Students

I have 25 students who show up every day ready to learn. They are excited, kind and willing to help in every instance.

The majority of my students come from low-income neighborhoods, but they do not let adversity stand in their way.

They show me on a daily basis, no matter the task, they are up for the job.

In this class, we are risk-takers. We are scientists. We are explorers. We are fearless. We make mistakes. In this class, we are loved.

My Project

First Grade is a time to explore, but it is also the time that students are beginning to experience more formalized instruction. Change can often be difficult for many students. I hope to minimize the change to make students transition to first grade easier.

One thing that we aim to do in First Grade is make engaging centers and activities to keep students interested and motivated.

Many times, this is through teacher created centers and activities. However, our school does not have the resources available to make these activities appealing to young students.

I have been able to create some of these centers and activities, using my personal printer and paper (something that all teachers do), however, I am limited in this. With your help, I hope to use this ink and paper to create lasting activities that I can use for many years; instead of boring, single use, activities that do not motivate students or encourage their curiosity.
