Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are ambitious, curious, and full of wonder. These amazing students attend a title one school, but always come ready to learn. My students have already had four different teachers this school year. I came in mid-year to take over as their permanent teacher.
This is my first class ever, and I walk in to a group of students who already loved their new teacher.
I have explained to them that I am here for them, and that I am not going anywhere. That I believe in them, and that they can achieve whatever their heart desires. I see it in their eyes that they trust and believe in me. I could not be more proud and honored to have these kids as my students for my very first classroom.
They are always asking me if they can read, and do so not at their desk. I am amazed at how eager they are to learn, and I want nothing but the best for them, and creating a special environment is part of that success.
My Project
Each day we do time on iStation and Imagine Math. The students have Chromebooks, but they do not have headphones. This is not easy especially when they need the question read to them. Having the headphones will allow the students to focus more on their own work, keep the classroom quiet, and in turn will give us better results.
In a Tile 1 school the majority of my students cannot afford headphones.
I am the fourth teacher they have had this year, and coming into my classroom, they have almost nothing. They want to be more engaged, but it is hard when there is so much noise in the classroom. I am confident that with these headphones the students will be able to concentrate more.
