My students need new beakers for my chemistry room. We are currently sharing a set of beakers with two other science teachers. These new beakers will allow us to do more hands-on experiments.
My students are juniors and sophomores. My classroom is a place where students are pushed to be the best that they can be. I promote advanced and creative thinking through exploration and choice. My classroom is a place where students can prepare for college and careers.
We live in a high-poverty area where a large portion of our K-12 student body is eligible for free or reduced lunch.
By the time students reach me, many of them have jobs or are caring for younger siblings. They are information hungry.
My Project
This project will be going to my science classes, we currently need to share with the other classes in the school. This will allow us to use the beakers to do more hands-on experiments in class.
We do some experiments throughout the year but this will allow us to do even more.
We do a single replacement penny lab were we show this by hollow out a penny because the chemicals react with each other. We could do around the holidays a lab making snowflakes or an activity with density.
These are just a few examples and with these new beakers, we could do even more experiments and activities in class.
