My Students
Almost 99% of our students are considered At Risk students and most come from families that live well below the poverty level. Their neighborhoods are yards from the Mexico Border and the Border Wall is visible on the horizon. Despite their daily struggles, these students are eager to learn and walk into our school daily with smiles and enthusiasm.
Their safe, happy place is our school where they learn confidence, how to express themselves and receive free breakfast, lunch, and dinner due to their socioeconomic status.
My hope is to create life long learners who feel they can accomplish anything.
My Project
Our students have been introduced to coding and have created some amazing coding stories. The iPad will allow students to use Coding Apps and continue to build their coding skills. The Wonder Workshop, which includes a Coding Bot, will allow them to take the coding skills they have been learning and apply them to an animate object. It will provide them with real-world experiences and instant feedback.
Learning to Code will provide my students with the skills needed to succeed in tomorrow's world.
The jobs of tomorrow will undoubtedly be in the Technological and Coding fields and I believe laying this foundation will leave a lasting impact on my students.
