My Students

My students come from a low-income, Title I, rural area with much diversity. Despite the circumstances at home, these children come to school and put forth their best efforts. For some, being with me is the best part of their day. I'm grateful to be their refuge.

My dream is to enhance my classroom to exceed the needs of my students and to create a positive learning environment.

Through DonorsChoose.org, I hope to be able to accomplish my goal.

My Project

These board games will replace the "bored" in review. My students will be actively engaged in review of imperative reading skills; such as inferencing, cause and effect, main idea, and reading comprehension. In addition to daily whole-group instruction, these games can be used in small groups to supplement what was presented as a large group. What better way to encourage students to practice these vital skills than to provide fun and exciting activities?

Reading is the foundation of education and student understanding of reading skills carries over into every content area in school.

These games will support that understanding, resulting in more confidence and knowledge, which can then be applied into additional subjects.
