Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
On March 13th my students and I went home thinking it would just be another weekend. We had no idea that our goodbyes then would be our last goodbyes for a long time...
I'm still trying to figure out how to teach music- specifically band from home.
A lot of the students' instruments and materials that they need are unfortunately sitting in my school which breaks my heart. A lot of them have a Chromebook to work with, supplied by the school and that's about it. It breaks my heart to think that all of the progress we have made this year has been halted, and it saddens me to think they will feel frustrated and unsuccessful the next time we are able to come back together.
My Project
Because we left so soon, I was not able to supply my students with the items necessary to practice their instruments from home. My students are out of reeds, their valves are sticking, and some have little to no equipment at home at all.
These essential items will allow my students to continue to play and learn their instruments from home.
Not only will they get to further their learning, but they also have something to take up time when they are at home. With limited resources, at least they have their instrument to help pass the time.
