I can't hear my computer. What did they just say? These are a couple of comments I hear when my students are using our computers in class.
I teach Third Grade at a Title 1 school in California.
We are an extremely diverse school and we're constantly trying new and different approaches to achieve proficiency each day. Over 45% of my school receives free/reduce breakfast and lunch each day.
This year will be my first year back to third grade in 10 years. A lot has happened since then. One BIG addition is the daily technology that the students need to use each day to be ready for our state tests in May. Many times we will have the entire class working on a laptop and the noise can get quite loud. What my students need are individual headphones so they are able to do their research, listen to videos, etc. in silence. We will use these 25 headphones many times each week in all subject areas.
It is very hard for a third grader to "tune out" the noise that is going on around them...especially when it's another computer.
I need your help in getting this resource into my classroom. I appreciate your consideration.
