My Students

I teach 22-28 energetic third graders. My students are very diverse in their learning needs and ability. They are pretty evenly divided into 1/3 below level, 1/3 on level, and 1/3 above grade level. They are wonderful kids! Many students come from homes where they don't get the extra help in reading and math that they need. They are eager to learn and having an option to work on an iPad at school would give them incentive and keep them engaged.

My students live and learn in an electronic world and they are fearless when it comes to technology.

My students are children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world. They thrive on technology because it quickly gets their attention and helps keep them motivated. Technology helps to engage students and encourage mastery of basic skills needed for a good education.

My Project

My students have access to iPads for individual learning in the classroom, but we do not have headphones. It is very difficult for students to focus on their learning when other students are working on devices that are making sounds or giving instructions. Right now, we have to turn down the sound, which causes a problem for students that are needing quiet as well as the students that are needing to hear what their program is explaining. It is important that students have the resources available to create a good learning environment for all. Headphones would help my students as they are learning and working in the same classroom.
