One of my least favorite phrases as an educator is "I can't". Please help my students say "I can!" with new, current drawing books.
I am the librarian at a small public school which is nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.
My school has 150 students of many diverse and unique backgrounds. Many of my students are reluctant readers and do not currently read at their grade level. I hope having more modern drawing books will help motivate students to succeed in their academic efforts and seek to be creative learners.
My Project
Teachers are constantly challenged to incorporate creative, differentiated lessons in their curriculum. At my school, one method that teachers and I have had much success with is having students create comic books. Creating dialogue for characters has helped to improve their writing skills tremendously. Unfortunately, some students become frustrated with their artistic abilities. I have several drawing books in the library to help bolster their talents, but would like a greater variety of drawing books to help the creative process.
As an educator, it is motivating to see your students eager to collaborate and use critical thinking skills to make innovative, creative learning projects.
Please help my students realize ALL students have artistic talents and academic abilities.
