Help me give my students some of the books they were promised. I can't bear to disappoint them. They had already picked out titles they wanted to read this summer. I cannot let them down.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

It was March 17 and the students were dismissed. None of us knew that would be the last day we would work with our students or get to give them hugs and say our goodbyes for the year. These students left the building with nothing but their book bags and a few had a library book.

Learning at a distance through an iPad that is giving so many troubles has been extremely difficult.

They don't have books enough to do their lessons. Many children don't have Wifi or are just now getting it after weeks of being out of school.

The last week of school, each child was promised ten books from a book company as a gift for summer reading. That is not going to happen for the safety of the children and all the cancellations and shut downs. It is a sad time for our children.

My Project

The sooner these books are in the hands of my students, the sooner the learning will continue. The smiles and the thrills will continue. Academics will continue and joy will fill their spirits.

The students cannot access books from a library because of the stay at home orders for our state.

The families do not have the income to purchase books even if they could go out to a book store. My students are from high poverty situations. My students love to read, but they must have materials to do that. Please help fulfill a promise made to my students by providing at least half of what they were expecting to be able to take home this summer.
