My students need for a document camera in our classroom. It would help ALL students to gain a better sense of understanding! Can you help us see clearly? We need your help!
"I can't see," says the student in the very back of the classroom! A document camera would benefit ALL students making things appear larger than life and engage students whether they sat in the back row or front! I might hear "I can see clearly now...all obstacles are gone!" What a treat that would be!
Our school is located in the heart of little Saigon and 60% of our students are Vietnamese and receive free or reduced lunch.
School for many of my students is the only place where they will learn life-skills. I know I have some of the best kids ever but, most of my students are second language learners and English is not their first language. To make learning rewarding and memorable I must teach using the various modalities including oral, kinesthetic, and visually. My fourth graders are eager learners and are like little sponges ready to soak up as much information as they can. I make my lessons hands-on and I promote discussion and inquiry. I know the more I challenge them and get them out of their comfort zone, the more they can embrace learning. I think that is why our school is so successful because the teachers and students work together to make learning fun! Our school has the best attendance of all of our schools in our district which speaks volumes!
My Project
My fourth grade students are really inquisitive and want to see and learn everything, but honestly they are crammed into a portable and it makes it tough if you’re the unfortunate kid in the back row. At times I want to show an illustration, text from a book, poetry, math problem, art project or science experiment but having 30+ students gathering around you just doesn't seem to work. We currently have an interactive white board but using a document camera would be another wonderful component to display learning in a "Big Way"! I believe the document camera with our existing interactive board will help my students become more involved in their learning. Plus, my students will actually be able to see what I am talking about anywhere in the room! Now that’s like getting a really great seat at a concert and seeing the performers up close and personal. I know the document camera will encourage & support all my students to become better learners as they become more active in their learning.
