My students have worked to overcome a lot of hardships during the past year and a half, starting with Hurricane Harvey. I continue to amazed by their persistence in the classroom and their efforts to do their best when the odds are very much against them. These students have gone through more in the past year than many people will endure in their lifetime. I am truly thankful to be a part of their lives and hope to have a lasting, positive impression.
Though we have hit the year mark for the storm, many of our students have yet to return to their own homes.
This has caused a greater impact on their work ability than we foresaw. My students have strong capabilities to become good writers but often lack the supplies needed to do their work in class.
These students are working hard to prepare for the STAAR test while also rebuilding their lives at home. As their teacher, I am working to build an environment that suits their needs and builds their focus on education.
My Project
I have several students in each of my classes who struggle to see information projected across the room. Although they are able to move to the front of the classroom, they still have to sit on the hard floor. If a lesson is longer than a few minutes, these students struggle to learn comfortably.
With these floor seats, students can comfortably move closer to the board and continue their work with less struggles.
My goal is to provide the best possible learning environment for all students and want to make sure that I can help them no matter what their needs might be!
