Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom. My students are second and third graders attending a Title 1 school in Hamilton Heights. My students are curious about their community, their country, and the world. My students are ready and eager to grow in reading, writing, and math. I am a dedicated teacher who wants to provide them with the right tools to help them achieve their academic goals.
Our goal is to create a community of curious, inquisitive, and active learners.
My Project
These letter manipulatives will allow my students to interact with the alphabet through hands-on play. They will be able to feel the shape of the letter and arrange multiple letters to form letter strings or words. Hopefully simple sentences.
Letter recognition is a key step in a child’s ability to learn to read and write.
As students play with letter manipulatives, they will be gaining knowledge about the letters they interact with. They will be able to see the difference between "D" and "B" and they will be also able to feel it.
Learning letter sounds with letter manipulatives has unlimited opportunities.
