"Please read this story to me. What is this word? Help me find a new story?" These are all comments that I hear during literacy center time. This is also the time I need to be working with students in small groups. My quest is to make this a productive and independent time for my students.
I teach in a progressive Nebraska town with an influx of students each year that come from a variety of home and school experiences.
My focus is to provide each child with a solid learning experience and to create independent learners. Quality learning occurs when students are actively engaged in experiences that enhance their skills. Providing age appropriate, independent resources can be a challenge! I want to be available to guide each child's learning journey and to provide the necessary tools to achieve this endeavor.
My Project
Listening to stories is how students begin to learn to read. The Leapfrog Tag Learning System will provide the opportunity for students to independently "read" and be read to.
With a variety of stories for children to choose from and the tools to help them hear the story, each child will gain from this daily experience. Literacy center time is when I am also working with small groups to increase each child's skills. Having the digital photo frame will allow me to post sight words and numbers for children to practice writing and reading in an engaging manner.
The Leapfrog Tag Learning System and the digital photo frame will provide independent learning experiences during center time that are fun and engaging for all children.
Having these tools available will make success a daily possibility for my students.
