I teach high school students, grades 9-12, with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We have 11 students in our class. Along with me as the teacher in the classroom, there are also 3 classroom aides that help our students as well. We love school and we have tons of fun! We enjoy our field trips, attending school events, doing science experiments, and using technology. We also enjoy grocery shopping and finding things to cook and eat in class.
My students work best by using different means of learning.
We use auditory learning, kinesthetic, and visual. My students LOVE technology. We have 2 computers in class as well as a smart board. My students like to participate on the smart board by coming up and selecting answer choices after reading, or playing games.
My students have no fear when it comes to using technology, and enjoy finding new websites to learn and play on. My students have a few favorites and often help each other get to a fun learning website. Technology is a big use for us in our class!
My Project
My students are brave and bold with technology! By having an iPad in the classroom, the students can take this mobile device anywhere in the room and learn with it! The students will be able to be independent and work by themselves. While my students enjoy working together, they also enjoy being grown up and being on their own sometimes. An iPad would be perfect for this.
Because we are bold with technology, I am confident that my students will benefit from a classroom iPad.
My students know how to navigate to their favorite learning websites and how to ask for help when they need it. Working on an iPad goes hand in hand with learning independence, and I am excited to see how my students grow by using it!
