My Students

Children always love to hear themselves on recordings. How about reading to a digital recorder and then being able to play back what you have read?

I will have 20 First Graders this year.

We are at a rural low income school with almost 90% free and reduced lunch. My students are so excited to learn to read but often miss out on opportunities due to reduced funding. This technology will be a positive tool to build fluency.

My Project

Children who struggle to read often do not like to read out loud to teachers or friends. They can be very self-conscious of their reading skills. Having recorders available will allow children to record and listen to themselves more frequently. The more they practice, the more they will improve.

Last year we had a student who refused to read.

When he read to himself with a recorder, he began to read more and practice more. He gained so much confidence in himself and his ability! I want to see my students start successfully and continue to increase their skills.
