If you peek inside my kindergarten language arts classroom, you will see quite a diverse group of children learning, playing, and working alongside each other. I teach in an urban magnet elementary school. My students come from all across our school district and represent a wide variety of backgrounds. Some have resources and others have very few. I teach 25 children in the morning and another class of 25 in the afternoon.
My dream is for every child in my class to be successful at school and to fall in love with learning.
I offer many hands-on, exciting and active learning experiences. As each year comes to an end, I am so proud of "my kids" and all that they have accomplished!
My Project
My students need durable headphones that will fit kindergarten students so that they can use the ipads and laptops that we have in our classroom.
Currently, we have two headphones that don't properly fit our little children; we switch these around to use with three laptops and five iPads in our classroom.
The children are patient, but it is hard to learn if you are trying to work with a literacy app that involves sound or listen to a book being read aloud, and the friend next to you is working on a different app. The competing volumes of electronics also disrupts other students working in different centers in the room.
Having ten kid sized headphones would create a much more "sound friendly" learning environment for everyone in the class. Additionaly, these headphones can link together so that two children using one device can both hear.
