My Project

I love that when my students see me in the hallway, they call me Mrs. Art Teacher and say hello. They also ask what project they will be doing next, and can't wait to come to my art class. My students are special because they come from culturally diverse backgrounds and are eager to learn about the arts. They are enthusiastic learners. Because of COVID, I make it my mission to choose art activities with bright colors which helps bring happiness. I also incorporate activities using social emotional learning strategies which helps bring calm, joy, and relaxation to my students.

I have requested gold markers, black paper, red paper, assorted and neon papers to make collages about Tar Beach inspired by Faith Ringgold.

Reading and discussing Tar Beach with my art students, I want to inspire them to create colorful collages with the materials requested. Their collages will show where they plan to fly to. This is an amazing multicultural project and celebrates Black History month.
