30 Kindergarteners are ready for their chance to achieve BIG goals. I was fortunate enough to meet about half my class last night at meet the teacher. They are sweet, excited, and a little nervous.
My wish for them, is this is the school year they fall in love with learning.
If they do this at such a young age, it will instill for them a lifetime of success. Kindergarten might only be a year, but it can be the tiny seed that turns into a tree.
I have 16 boys and 15 girls this year. They loved to read and ask why. They also LOVE computers!
My Project
Our students are living in a digital world. The jobs most of them will go into, haven't even been created yet. Having an iPad in the classroom will help them learn vital skills like coding.
It is my goal to teach them that technology is a tool.
We are really pushing our students into being more involved with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). An iPad in the classroom will be able to help enrich each of the areas of STEAM.
We will learn science through apps where students can be interactive with experiments. We will also learn about the world around them on virtual field trips.
We can also use the iPad to learn how technology works. There are several great apps that allow kindergarten students to explore the world of coding. Which many of their future jobs might require them to be skilled in.
Engineering can be taught through building apps and exploring with virtual LEGO bricks. They will be able to twist and turn their models to see what they look like in 3D!
Students will be able to create digital art. They can explore many different mediums without the mess. They will also be able to print and display their artwork.
Mathematics will become enriched with the iPad. They can use digital counters, manipulate numbers, and play several math games to help foster number sense.
