Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students want to create a narrative in a creative way to show their pride in their culture and identity as well as the students who are thriving with disabilities. This project is centered around self-expression, understanding, and acceptance of self and others. We will use an ice cream maker to have a party to represent who they are and to celebrate each other as students explore and learn both culture and identity journeys.

Students having outlets of expression will have greater self-esteem and confidence in who they are.

We want these students to feel heard while feeling their culture and backgrounds matter. Also, many students are on the path to identity acceptance within the LGTBQ community, within their culture, and among students with disabilities. Our hope is this project will help with that acceptance of self and others. Our students will be able to learn about themselves and others with this project. I will also teach our students how to plan and organize events for their community
