My Students
My students are first-graders at a great school. My scholars are economically disadvantaged. They come from low-income households and 100% receive free lunch.
My students have many dreams.
They want to become lawyers, doctors, business leaders, accountants, veterinarians, etc. Most come to school eager to learn and do their best. Regardless of their home environment, they believe they can be successful and they can!
Every child deserves the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. Help make my students' dreams a reality by supporting our class!
My Project
These materials will be used to teach diversity and inclusion in our classroom. We will utilize the books in a whole group setting; however the students will use the diversity journals to think and write about their thoughts/feelings about each topic.
Many minority students feel that they are not seen!
Students light up when they open a book and see characters that they can relate to.
Help our class by supporting our project that will allow my students to read about people who look like them and have some of the same cultural heritage that they experience in their own lives.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
