My students need copies of Othello: No Fear Shakespeare so that they have access to a modern translation of Shakespeare's complex play to use as a reference tool.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our student population is diverse with students of various income levels, ethnicity, and religions in one classroom. This diversity presents unique challenges for our community. They have enjoyed learning about other countries and cultures in an effort to better themselves and understand those around them.
These students have the desire to succeed in their post-secondary life, but they need help acquiring the skills necessary for either college or a career.
Most of our students go on to attend college, either at the community college level or a four-year university.
My Project
Students will use these books to analyze rhetoric throughout the play. Students will compare the rhetoric used to persuade characters in Othello to the rhetoric used to persuade viewers and constituents by today's media and the politicians they follow. Not only will this improve their media literacy skills, but it will also help them become informed voters and citizens. This will help them realize the real-world applications of our work in the classroom.
The Othello: No Fear Shakespeare version of the play will provide scaffolding for students who are unfamiliar with Shakespearean English.
This will allow the students to easily comprehend the text and shift their focus to the rhetoric rather than the vocabulary.
