This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are always full of life and are active members of our large, tight-knit community. We have a ton of school pride, and have recently pulled through a few natural & personal disasters together.

My students are very creative, especially when it comes to using unorthodox supplies and materials.

We have multiple introduction to art (Art 1) courses, as well as different levels of intermediate and advanced courses - such as intermediate art (Art 2), advanced art (Art 3 and 4), and three levels of ceramics.

My Project

This project will be considered an "ice-breaker" project. The students will use one of the requested puzzle pieces to create an image that represents who they are as an individual. Then we will take all the puzzle pieces and unite them into a large scale mural.

My hopes for this project will be a way for everyone to feel safe and welcome in the art room and have a sense of belonging.

My advanced students will help organize the puzzle pieces into a larger mural based on the overall color schemes presented in each puzzle piece. This will allow them the experience with installation art as well as presentation.
