This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a very low income community, some are homeless, and because of this they will only experience some things inside the classroom such as interactions with animals, painting or being free to use materials without fear of them running out. I would love to provide them with these opportunities to grow as students through hands on learning as well as grow into adults to understand life, caring and compassion. The way a student lights up when they do hands on work is amazing.
My Project
The paint supplies in kindergarten are getting amazingly low. The students are not able to paint as much as they should be able to because the supplies are in such short supply. Please if you could help bring paint and brushes to our classroom so the children can paint as they wish. Art allows the children a chance to be creative and express themselves in ways that words might not get through. Art also allows for an escape for some children. These children come from very low income families and do not have access to this type of activity at home.
